I am excited to announce my campaign to represent the people of the 22nd Legislative District in the State House!
It has been an honor to serve the people of Olympia for the last four years as Mayor Pro Tem and Councilmember. For over a decade I have worked to improve the lives of working class families and our most vulnerable neighbors. My experience assisting struggling families in Thurston County, creating affordable housing, and working to ensure all Washingtonian's have access to quality healthcare have all reinforced my commitment to making sure no one is left out or left behind.
I grew up in the Pacific Northwest, am a first-generation college graduate, and the daughter of working class parents. As a young person I grew up watching my single mom struggle to provide for us. She started her public service career working as a custodian at a wastewater treatment facility. Her union job provided us with vital economic security and healthcare while she raised me as a single mom. This experience helped shape my perspective of equity and forged my deep gratitude for union jobs to support hard-working Washingtonians and their families.
I am a proud graduate of the Evergreen State College where I earned my graduate degree in public administration and undergraduate in environmental studies. Before attending Evergreen, I earned my associate degree from Green River Community College. As a working student, I worked in the hospitality industry to pay my way through college.
Prior to being elected to City Council I served on the board of GRuB and the Olympia Planning Commission. I have experience as a community organizer, former WFSE 443 member, legislative aide, and community impact director for the United Way of Thurston County. I currently work as a health policy analyst for community health centers.
I moved to Olympia in 2007 and own a home in the Eastside neighborhood. I'm the human to Moxie the Husky and our newest addition Ruby, and work downtown.
I look forward to hearing from you and learning more about your priorities. Please feel free to reach out to me anytime.
